The application form for the 2021 Cyril Keogh bursary awards is now available for download in the Members’ Area of the MLSA website. This year the Executive Committee has decided to allow applications from members who completed an eligible course in the previous two calendar years 2019 and 2020. The closing date for applications is 15th April 2021.

The virtual MLSA 2020 AGM on Saturday 17th October was attended by a record number of members and an update on motions is available in the Members’ Area of the website. Thanks to all members who participated. The attendees voted unanimously in favour of balloting members for industrial action if progress is not made on the MLSA pay claim. The MLSA has today issued a press release about the strong mandate it has received from its members, which can be found here.
The 2020 MLSA AGM will be held on Saturday 17th October at 10.30am by Zoom webinar. The meeting will be entirely virtually this year in line with COVID-19 Level 3 public health restrictions. All current members should have received an email invitation with a link to register in advance for the meeting. The MLSA Executive Committee wishes to announce that the rescheduled MLSA 2020 AGM will take place on Saturday 17th October at 11am. The MLSA and ACSLM have today issued a joint press release calling for investment in clinical diagnostic laboratories, particularly in staffing and the long-awaited integrated Laboratory Information System. The joint statement summarises the issues raised in a joint submission to the Oireachtas Special Committee on COVID-19 response in June and is issued ahead of the AGM of the ACSLM today. The MLSA was invited to make a submission to the Oireachtas Special Committee on COVID-19 Response in June 2020. The MLSA Executive Committee and the Council of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine collaborated to produce a joint submission which can be viewed here.
The motions for the 2020 AGM are now available in the Members' Area of the website. The Executive Committee is continuing to review options for holding the AGM in 2020 with an Autumn meeting a potential option under consideration, subject to necessary public health advice.
