The final HSE Outline Strategic Plan for Laboratory Services 2026-2035 was issued in April 2025 following its approval by the Department of Health and HSE Board.
The HSE will formally launch the Strategy soon and has committed to engage with the relevant unions on an implementation process and plan. No changes to terms and conditions of employment shall be enacted until this engagement occurs.
This is a HSE document and its recommendations are now HSE policy but have not been agreed by the MLSA. The Executive Committee will discuss its contents at its next meeting this Friday 11th April. Extensive consultation, and where necessary negotiation, with the MLSA will be required ahead of any implementation.
