The names of the recipients of the 2021 Cyril Keogh Academic bursary have now been published in the bursary section of the Members’ Area of the website. There were sixteen eligible applications this year, all from medical scientists who have completed MSc degrees in medical laboratory science disciplines.  In view of the fact that only seven bursaries were awarded in 2020, the Executive Committee agreed to extend the number of bursaries this year to sixteen so that each eligible applicant received an award.

The application form for the 2021 Cyril Keogh bursary awards is now available for download in the Members’ Area of the MLSA website. This year the Executive Committee has decided to allow applications from members who completed an eligible course in the previous two calendar years 2019 and 2020. The closing date for applications is 15th April 2021.

The Union for Medical Scientists is to recommend to members that it reject the terms of the new Public Service Pay deal offered by Government.

The virtual MLSA 2020 AGM on Saturday 17th October was attended by a record number of members and an update on motions is available in the Members’ Area of the website. Thanks to all members who participated. The attendees voted unanimously in favour of balloting members for industrial action if progress is not made on the MLSA pay claim. The MLSA has today issued a press release about the strong mandate it has received from its members, which can be found here.

The 2020 MLSA AGM will be held on Saturday 17th October at 10.30am by Zoom webinar. The meeting will be entirely virtually this year in line with COVID-19 Level 3 public health restrictions. All current members should have received an email invitation with a link to register in advance for the meeting.
